Terms of use
1. Who we are
Benchmath is operated by Oghenekaro Iruoghene Okpoto, an individual based in Ontario, Canada ("Benchmath", "we", "us"). You can reach us at support@benchmath.app.
These terms apply to the Benchmath Tolerance Stack-Up plugin and this website (together, the "service"). By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What the service is
The service provides calculation aids for mechanical tolerance analysis. It performs arithmetic on the values it is given, using the methods and assumptions stated in each result. It is provided without charge and does not require an account.
3. What the service is not
The service does not provide professional engineering services or advice. We do not review your design, do not know your application, and are not acting as your engineer. Nothing the service returns is a certification, approval or sign-off of any design, drawing or part.
Results are aids to, and not a substitute for, professional engineering judgement. You are responsible for checking that the inputs are correct, that the stated method and assumptions suit your application, and that the results are right, before using them in design, inspection or manufacture. You must verify results independently before releasing anything to manufacture.
4. Using the service through ChatGPT
The plugin is used through ChatGPT, which is operated by OpenAI and governed by OpenAI's own terms. ChatGPT, not Benchmath, reads your message, decides what values to send to the plugin, and writes the reply you see. It can misread a drawing or a description, send a wrong value, or restate a result incorrectly.
Each result therefore includes the inputs as understood by the plugin. Check them against your own figures every time. We are not responsible for what ChatGPT sends to the plugin or how it presents what the plugin returns.
5. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, production or data, arising from use of, or reliance on, the service or its results. This includes scrap, rework, delay, recall and product failure.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD 100).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability, or any right you have, that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including consumer protection law.
7. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or send automated traffic that degrades it for others. We may limit or block use that does.
8. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue the service, or any part of it, at any time and without notice. We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest revision, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
9. Ownership
The results of your calculations are yours to use. The Benchmath name, the website content and the software remain ours.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Subject to any rights you have under the law of the place where you live that cannot be waived, disputes will be heard by the courts of Ontario.
11. General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the service.
