Benchmath Tolerance Stack-Up
Tolerance calculations for mechanical drawings, available as a plugin inside ChatGPT. You describe the dimensions; the plugin does the arithmetic with decimal precision and shows its method.
What it calculates
| Calculation | What you get |
|---|---|
| Linear tolerance stack-up | Nominal gap, worst-case limits, RSS limits, and each dimension's share of the variation |
| Shaft and hole fit | Maximum and minimum clearance or interference, and the fit type |
| Material condition | MMC and LMC sizes, bonus tolerance and virtual condition |
Example
A housing 50.00 ±0.10 mm deep holds a bearing 15.00 ±0.05, a spacer 20.00 ±0.08 and a cover lip 14.50 ±0.05.
| Result | Value (mm) |
|---|---|
| Nominal gap | 0.500 |
| Worst-case gap | 0.220 to 0.780 |
| RSS gap | 0.3537 to 0.6463 |
Limits
- One-dimensional linear stacks only. It does not analyse 3D stacks or hole patterns.
- Works in millimetres or inches, as you state. It does not convert between them.
- Uses ASME Y14.5 terms.
- RSS results assume independent, normally distributed, centred dimensions.
Calculation aid only. Verify results before release to manufacture.
